Cooking together as a family introduces kids to new foods, promotes healthy eating habits and encourages math and literacy skills. It even helps kids to develop problem-solving skills – like when you run out of an ingredient or need to use a substitute.
Kitchen Club Kids books are a series of books that weave kid-friendly recipes into fun rhyming stories that educate kids about numbers, colors, food recognition and recipe sharing to create a cooking adventure. The first book in the series is called End of the Rainbow Fruit Salad.
Thanks to Bread and Butter Publishing for the opportunity to review this book. Written by Eluka Moore, Larry Puzniak and Marianne Welsh and illustrated by Kristen Gau, End of the Rainbow Fruit Salad is ideal for toddlers and preschoolers. It’s also great for older kids to read to younger siblings.
End of the Rainbow Fruit Salad begins with taking kids through the process of preparing a fruit salad recipe. Kids have an opportunity to count and measure ingredients, learn the steps of making the salad, and learn fun facts about food. At the of the story is a real fruit salad recipe.
My 6- and 8-year-old kids enjoyed reading it because they love to review recipes. They even read it to their baby brother – who’s just a toddler.
What I love about Kitchen Club Kids is that they’re dedicated to helping kids learn about healthy foods in a fun way. And the authors donate a portion of all book proceeds to support area food-base charities in St. Louis, M0.
